Who is Elon Musk?

Updated: Dec 26, 2022

He is not just the world's richest person who set to take over Twitter

Since the beginning of last month, we have often seen the name Elon Musk on the news. It is, of course, because he became Twitter's largest shareholder on April 4, announcing that he hopes to make Twitter "better than ever" by adding new features. But do we know who he is as a person other than as the CEO of Tesla? I assume many of us don't. So today, I would like to provide a little insight into Elon Musk.

Early Life & Education:

Elon Musk was born in South Africa in 1971. He had a talent for computing from a young age; he created his first video game at age 12. After graduating from a high school in South Africa, he moved to Canada, his mother's hometown, for college. He transferred to the University of Pennsylvania two years later to study Physics and Economics and graduated in 1997. As an earnest student at UPenn, he held multiple internships and later enrolled at Stanford University for a graduate entry to further explore Physics. Nonetheless, realizing the uselessness of studying physics for a more developed society, he decided to leave graduate school.

Business Career:

How did Elon Musk start his career? This question must be the part most of us are interested in about him.

As mentioned in the previous section about his education, Musk dropped out of a physics graduate degree program at Stanford University - this became the starting point for him to launch two companies in the 1990s. He founded Zip2, a technology company in a web store firm, in 1995. With a prevailing reputation, the company was bought by Compaq, the computer manufacturer, for $307 million in 1997. Additionally, in the same year, Musk launched an online financial company that later became what we now call PayPal, and this new company was sold to eBay in 2002 for $1.5 billion.

After successfully selling his two companies, Musk managed to gain further success. In 2002, he started a new company SpaceX with his increasing curiosity about space exploration; he aimed to expand the company into the field of a cost-effective alternative for NASA. He also co-founded and became the CEO of Tesla in 2008.

Who Elon Musk is in Summary:

Today, as everyone is aware, Musk is the representative of Tesla and SpaceX. He has managed to expand these firms in the industries despite sometimes facing risks of collapse. While criticisms directed at Elon Musk are widespread in the media, there is still no change that he is undoubtedly one of the most high-achieving and successful business leaders.

Buying Twitter:

On April 2, Elon Musk made a one-sided bid to buy Twitter, and in less than a day, the deal stating "the blockbuster $44 billion" was announced. It is indicated in many sources that this procedure made other board members wary but was inevitable due to them running out of options. While millions of positive and negative arguments about this deal arise, Musk's intention to take over Twitter is accomplished, meaning there is nothing we can do about Twitter now.

Let's see what comes next about Elon Musk on the news.
